Field Trip in the Northern Part of Kanazawa City

Guides: S. Tarumi and Y. Akiba

(18th October, 2000)

This field trip was held in the working fields of Tarumi and Akiba in the northern part of Kanazawa City.

The lower part of the Omma Formation and the uppermost part of the Takakubo Formation would be distributed in the field of Tarumi. Thick stratified tuffs that could be correlated with the Kamiwakunami and Shimowakunami Tuffs were distinguished in his field. An unreported tuff bed was recognized below the Kamiwakunami Tuff.

On the other hand, the lower part of the Omma Formation was widely distributed in the field of Akiba along. Since the valley was developed roughly along the dip direction of the strata, only a limited thickness of the strata coudl be seen. There were two tuff beds correlatable with the OL2a and OL3 Tuffs. However, no medium-grained sandstone was intercalated between them.
